No. In fact, it acts as a protective layer. If your paint is in good condition (factory original), the vinyl helps shield against UV rays and minor abrasions. When removed professionally, your paint is expected to look much like it did when wrapped.
With proper care, a high-quality wrap (Avery/3M) typically lasts between 3 to 5 years depending on environmental exposure. Vertical surfaces (doors) often last longer, while horizontal surfaces (hood/roof) taking direct Spanish sun may show age sooner. We recommend ceramic coating your wrap to extend its life.
Hand washing is best. Avoid automatic car washes with bristles, as they can scratch the vinyl and lift edges. For matte wraps, use specific matte-safe soaps and never use wax or polish, as this will add unwanted shine.
Vinyl adheres best to smooth, painted surfaces. Rough textured plastic (often found on bumpers or fenders of SUVs) cannot be wrapped effectively as the adhesive may not bond long-term.
